I agree… All women (single, married, divorced) need to be taught from an early age to maintain some financial independence. There is absolutely no guarantee in life, and women should not be left empty handed.
Does this mean every women must work outside the home? No. But it does mean that every women should have a safety net, regardless of their profession. Every couple and person is different, but in general… Women who work outside the home should maintain a modest savings account and retirement (as should their partners). Women who stay home and raise the children and keep the home should ALSO have an opportunity to contribute to their own savings account and retirement… She’s working hard to raise your children and should have the same safety and security as a woman who works outside the home.
Thank you for pointing this out. I find it remarkable how this detail is usually absent from discussions of women and SAHM vs. working moms in the man-o-sphere. There’s a difference between teaching a girl that she doesn’t need a man PERIOD and teaching her that she shouldn’t solely rely on them for every little thing, such as happiness, validation, and finances.

As for motivations for becoming an astronaut, personally I’m too chicken to be an one, but I can understand the desire. You look up at the sky and wonder what’s out there. It’s exploring the vast unknown. You’re not limited to planet Earth…with improved technology, we can explore new worlds. Heck, even without the technology to visit other planets, I’m sure just being in space is being in a new environment. Just look at Sci Fi shows and movies. Humans desire to explore the unknown, just like past explorers that sailed on ships to new unknown land.

Mrs. w/ a child
Often children don’t interpret the message the way the programmers want them to and it pleases me that children are smarter that most workers at the ministry of indoctrination.
I agree, but I think this may depend on strong parental influence to counteract cultural messages.
As for the target demographic, I agree that is what the programmers intend. However, many kids watching Sesame Street don’t have a strong sense of racial differences. SS is very diverse, and my own kids watched it without identifying as being like certain puppets and not like others. I doubt that toddlers who are not black are processing the fact that the skit is not meant for them.
